Community Seminars

Osteoporosis is often called the “silent thief” because patients display no symptoms, and may not even realize they have the disease until they suffer a fracture. In Canada, at least one in three women and one in five men will suffer a broken bone from osteoporosis during their lifetime—and over 80% of all fractures in people 50 years and older are caused by osteoporosis.

This seminar will help you teach your patients about bone health: how to determine if they are at risk for osteoporosis-related bone fractures, what actions they can take to reduce their risk of osteoporosis, and the kinds of medications that high-risk patients can take to lessen the chance of a fracture and maintain their mobility and independence.

Materials include a background refresher document for you, a PowerPoint presentation and a patient handout.
